BMW European Championship. Cascais

Our congratulations go to Jose Matoso, Frederico Melo, Gustavo Lima for their victory in the BMW European Championship. It is especially nice to see their victory at their home club as over the last few years Jose has been instrumental in organizing the Dragon calendar of events that have been so popular and successful in Cascais.

The championship was the culmination of this year’s winter series of events which were as always well organized and well run, the additional class sponsorship by BMW has been a welcome additional bonus.
Jose and his team were world ranked number 1 in 2012, so a major championship win is a fantastic boost to their string of consistent great results and consolidates their position as one of the current top racing teams.

There must be a number of sailors watching young Will Heritage who added the Corinthian European title to his list of successes, with the “help” of Graham and Julia Bailey and Richard Powell, they won the final race and finished a very creditable 6th overall. Stacking up a wealth of experience at such an early age(12) Will will certainly be in great demand as he gets older and bigger.
