Rigging your new Dragon

With lots of new Dragons leaving the workshop, there are a number of new innovations and systems. These notes and photos will help you rig the new boats: the adjustable shrouds, the lines at the base of the mast and the mast tripod.

Shrouds

Connecting the adjustable shrouds

The new-style shrouds are adjustable at the deck. A small cover plate sits over the shroud plate: it comes off before rigging and goes back on once the shrouds are in place.

  1. Remove the cover plate

    Take the small cover plate off the shroud plate on deck before you start.

  2. Connect the shrouds

    Connect the shrouds through the shroud plate with the cover plate still off.

  3. Refit the cover plate

    Once the shrouds are in place, put the cover plate back. Check it is the right way round, as shown in the photo.

What goes through each block

The lines at the base of the mast are usually led through the blocks like this. Lines are listed in the order the photos label them.

Port Port side blocks

  1. Jumper (port)
  2. Outhaul
  3. Cunningham
  4. Genoa halyard

Stbd Starboard side blocks

  1. Jumper (starboard)
  2. Main halyard
  3. Spinnaker halyard
  4. Pole uphaul
  5. Inhaul
Mast tripod

Setting up the mast tripod

  • Connect the front leg of the mast tripod to the forestay tube.
  • The ropes at the sides are tied onto the trailer.
