Petticrows Special Projects
At Petticrows as well as building Dragons we also are able to take on some specialist one off projects. We were commissioned to build a boat with similar traditional lines to the Dragon, but with a modern twist.The result is a carbon fibre/foam sandwich hull, an extra large cockpit for cruising and entertaining friends. The rig is carbon fibre without backstay or runners. The sail plan includes a large asymmetric spinnaker. The keel is radically different to the Dragon; a bulb with wings.
This boat also features a built in electric engine. It is extremely manoeuvrable and you can silently start the engine to get back to the bar in the evening when the wind drops!
Tim can be seen sailing the boat by remote control using the auto helm feature. A second similar boat has now been commissioned.
